Biography
Shreela Gokarn is a contemporary abstract artist working across mixed media, acrylic, and digital abstraction. Her early work was rooted in photographic imagery and portraiture before evolving into a more intuitive abstract language. Her practice explores memory, landscape, colour, texture, form, and time.
Artist Statement
Creating art is not just a process;
it’s a feeling, a journey, and
a little piece of magic.
I don’t paint the landscape as I see it. I paint what remains of it within me in an abstract form created not by adding colour but by layering time. Each series is an echo of both my inner world and the world that surrounds me.
It’s an exploration of abstraction beyond boundaries; where colour, texture, and form transcend the visible and speak the language of emotion and imagination. It’s a dialogue between impulse and restraint, between the deliberate gesture and the unpredictable behaviour of the materials. The result is a body of work that feels both composed and surrendered. This process has taught me to trust the drift and surrender.
Through layered colours and textures, my paintings evoke a meditative space where viewers are invited to pause, observe and reflect on the language spoken by the colours and experience a sense of quiet expansion.
